Sayed Haider Raza

Brief Profile: S. H. Raza born in was an Indian painter who lived and worked in France since 1950, while maintaining strong ties with India. His works are mainly abstracts in oil or acrylic, with a very rich use of color, replete with icons from Indian cosmology as well as its philosophy. He invokes several Indic elements like nature, Vedic texts, spirituality, and the oneness of mind and body. Raza was one of the founders of the Progressive Artists' Group, along with K H Ara and F N Souza. He passed away on 23 July 2016.
